Sane enjoys California break with girlfriend after World Cup snubbing by Germany
Leroy Sane has found the perfect medicine for his World Cup heartbreak: a California holiday with his girlfriend.
The 22-year-old was surprisingly left out of Joachim Low’s 23-man Germany squad for this summer’s tournament in Russia despite an incredibly successful season in the Premier League.
Sane won the title with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as well as claiming an individual award, being named the PFA Young Player of the Year.
However, he was surprised to find he was not going to Russia, and so has looked to get away from the action by taking in a holiday to the US with his girlfriend, Candice Brook.
Sane appeared in heart-felt stream of videos that paid tribute to him as they were seen embracing and kissing each other as well as an image that showed Brook – a model – wearing just a bikini.
‘All year,’ Brook wrote on Instagram followed by a trio of romantic emoji’s.
Despite this tribute by Brook, Sane will not be best pleased with his omission from the German World Cup squad.
When the Germans kick-off their tournament – against Mexico on Sunday – there will be some bitterness and he will be envious of those who were preferred to him by head coach Low.
And while he will no doubt be enjoying his well-earned break from football after a long and tireless season, he would much prefer to be helping the world champions with their defence in Russia.
