Poland produce yet another disappointing World Cup display as they succumb to a 2-1 defeat to Senegal, who have become the first ever African side to taste glory at 2018 World Cup.

18′ CHANCE! Niang’s shot wide out
Niang skews the ball somewhere between a shot and a square pass, and the ball flies out wide by the far-right post. A frustrating finish to a fantastic piece of play.
22′ CHANCE! Lewandowski’s header over the bar
That’s more like it fom Poland; Zielinski tips a ball into the Senegal box on the right that sweeps over the defence and finds Grosicki who just heads it over the crossbar.
37′ OWN GOAL! Poland 0-1 Senegal (Cionek)
It’s a strike from Idrissia Gueye, on the back of some lovely interplay from Niang and Mane, that gives the Lions of Teranga the lead.
But it will go down as an own goal for Thiago Cionek following a massive deflection that wrong-foots Szczesny and careers into the bottom-right corner.
50′ Lewandowski’s free-kick saved!
Lewandowski lofts the free-kick over the defensive wall and guides it towards the top-right corner, only for a flying leap from the Senegal keeper to push it wide and into open play.
60′ GOAL! Poland 0-2 Senegal (Niang)
It’s an absolutely awful error from Poland to gift their opponents a second goal. Just inside the centre circle, under little pressure, Krychowiak clips a high back-pass to Bednarek that the substitute is completely unprepared for.
Niang races in unmarked off the right wing and beats both the defender and Szczesny, who tears out of his box to try and stop it.
A neat chip over the keeper leaves an open net and the Torino man taps home for his first international goal. 2-0 to Senegal after an hour!
86′ GOAL! Poland 1-2 Senegal (G. Krychowiak)
Krychowiak heads home a free-kick from eight yards out on the left, in at the right post with a deft touch and suddenly, Poland are in touching distance of a vital point.
Senegal upset Poland with a 2-1 Group H victory in Moscow that owed plenty to poor mistakes from the European nation.
Poland were widely expected to qualify for the knockout rounds but after suffering a seventh loss in their last nine World Cup matches, FIFA’s eighth-ranked team are in danger of making an early exit.
Thiago Cionek’s own goal, the defender deflecting in a shot from Idrissa Gueye, handed Senegal the lead in the 37th minute.
Senegal doubled their lead when M’Baye Niang took advantage of a mix-up between Grzegorz Krychowiak and Wojciech Szczesny to finish with ease.
Adam Nawalka’s side set up an exciting finish when Krychowiak somewhat made amends from his error by heading home a Kamil Grosicki free-kick, but they could not find a late leveller.
Poland will need to make amends when they take on Colombia – who surprisingly lost to Japan on Tuesday – while Senegal have qualification for the next phase in their sights.
