NPA reiterates use of Flat Bottom Vessels to attract cargo to warri port:
This is even as the Olu of Warri, HIS Royal Majesty, Ogiame Ikewoli 11 has called on all stakeholders in the Delta Ports to give maximum and unflinching support to the Management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), under Hadiza Bala Usman so that the transformation they brought to the region could be fruitful and sustained.
Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman made this known at the 3rd stakeholders meeting in Warri. The NPA boss pointed out that Calabar port which also have the same challenge of shallow draught has been able to improve it with the use of FBV. According to a statement signed by NPA’s Assistant General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Isah Suwaid and made available to Vanguard Maritime Report, the NPA boss noted that the present Management had initiated the idea of stakeholders’ forum as a way of identifying the challenges of the industry and also to monitor the pace of progress in ports operations. In his welcome address, the Port Manager of Delta ports, Warri, Mr Simon Okeke disclosed that Warri port has never had it better than now and commended the present Executive Management of NPA for providing infrastructure that is making Warri port to function optimally.
