Black, Strong and Divine
Black, Strong and Divine

Black, Strong and Divine – the African woman

Mascaraed sweat drops
On black soil like hip-hops
Her resilience stronger than her melanin
Beauty-fool without and within..

Unwearied she scales hill tops
Breasts dangling like flip-flops
Her tasks daily are certain
She sets down her pot only at the sun’s setting

At times cloudy eyes let raindrops
Jagged spirits broken like hiccups
Behind the clouds surely there’s a silver lining
Atop her smile, beautiful silvery lines

Life sometimes, gets hard as rocks
But we hear feet sing clip-clops
She never stops, Her strength is divine
Her resilience stronger than her melanin
